Requesting Your Appointment

If you would like to request an appointment with Dr Dohrmann, you will need to do two things:

Firstly, you'll need to ask your doctor to mail or fax a referral to Dr Dohrmann's office

Secondly, you'll need to complete a short set of questions which will be used to help determine whether Dr Dohrmann is able to help you within a reasonable time

When will I find out if I have an appointment?

When Dr Dohrmann's office has received both your doctor's referral and your completed answers in the online appointment request we will notify you promptly.  We will contact you by your preferred contact option (which you can indicate in the online appointment request) and we will notify your doctor by fax or mail if we cannot offer you an appointment.  You can expect to hear from us within about 2 days in most cases.

If your doctor's referral and your answers to the online appointment request suggest that Dr Dohrmann may be able to help you, then we will offer an appointment much sooner than we would have been able if we were to offer an appointment to all patients who make a request.

How long will I have to wait for my appointment?

We use an appointment system rather like the standby method of commercial airline travel.  We will offer you an appointment with between one and five days notice, usually within four weeks of your being advised by us that we may be able to help you.  If you are unable to accept the offer of the appointment, we will keep you on our "standby list" and offer you another time as soon as we reasonably can.

This method of appointments means that those patients who are most likely to benefit from Dr Dohrmann's care are able to be seen sooner, and even months sooner, than has been the case over the years.

Does Dr Dohrmann run on time?

Yes, Dr Dohrmann almost invariably runs on time.  You should aim to arrive 15 minutes before your appointment time if possible.  This will allow enough time for you to complete any paperwork before your appointment.  Dr Dohrmann allows 30 minutes for a new patient appointment.  If you arrive more than 15 minutes late, your appointment will not be able to proceed - it is not possible to be "squeezed in" as all patients need adequate time for their appointment.  Dr Dohrmann will not inconvenience other patients who do arrive on time by seeing patients who arrive more than 15 minutes after their designated appointment time.

In our experience, patients with appointments between 8am and 10am are most likely to experience longer than expected delays in traffic.  Please keep this in mind and  allow enough time to find parking.  Please call our office if you would like further information or advice before  your appointment.

What if I am old patient of Dr Dohrmann's?

We will always try to offer timely appointments to patients who are being treated or have been treated by Dr Dohrmann.  If it is more than two years since you have seen him, or if you have a new problem, we will need you to complete our online appointment request and to forward your doctor's referral.  If you are a current patient or it is less than two years since your last appointment, and if you are wanting to discuss your original condition, then you won't need to complete the online appointment request.

If you were originally referred by a specialist, you will need a new referral because specialist referrals expire after 3 months.  If you were originally referred by your GP, you may need a new referral unless the original referral was marked "indefinite" by your doctor.  If you're not sure, you can call Dr Dohrmann's office for advice.

Why does Dr Dohrmann organise his appointments like this?

Appointments are organised so that those patients most likely to benefit from Dr Dohrmann's care are seen as soon as can reasonably be arranged.  There is only a limited number of new patient appointments available each week.  Our experience with offering all patients a new appointment has been a waiting time of up to six months - which is not ideal for anyone.  We hope you understand that the process explained on this page is intended to be the most efficient and fair for everyone.

What about my privacy?
